Based on timeless wisdom from Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People with modern body language insights from world-renowned expert Mark Bowden.

Workshop Description

Knowing how to walk into a room, hold a conversation, and connect with people is a life skill that pays off forever.

In this fast-paced, highly interactive Wayfinders Club session, teens will move past screen-based communication and step into hands-on exercises designed to build real interpersonal confidence.
Led by Kindraza’s Mentor in Residence Andrew McNab, this workshop blends timeless wisdom from Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People with modern body language insights from world-renowned expert Mark Bowden.
What Teens Will Learn & Practice:
- Starting Conversations Naturally: How to break the ice comfortably and know exactly what questions to ask.
- Active Listening: Moving from "waiting for your turn to speak" to genuinely understanding others.
- Decoding Body Language: Reading subtle physical cues and projecting open, confident body language in any room.
- Handling Awkward Moments & Disagreements: What to do when a conversation stalls, and how to respond gracefully when someone disagrees.
- Speaking with Confidence: Articulating thoughts clearly without second-guessing themselves.
No dry lectures or boring powerpoints—teens will be out of their seats, working in small groups, and actively practicing these skills in real time. Every participant will leave energized with practical tools they can apply immediately at school, home, and in future leadership roles.

Throughout his career, Andrew has facilitated numerous financial literacy, communication, and leadership workshops for youth, helping the next generation develop practical real-world skills and confidence.

About Wayfinders Club

Wayfinders Club is a hands-on youth incubator and peer community for teens aged 12–15 in Toronto, operated by Kindraza Youth Network. Moving away from traditional classroom lectures, Wayfinders brings young people together to build real businesses, execute community projects, learn practical life skills, and earn their own money—all guided by real-world entrepreneur mentors.

Learning by Doing: Round-Table Mentorship & Just-in-Time Skills

At Wayfinders Club, there are no blackboards, exams, or passive lectures. Instead, teens gather around a table with experienced entrepreneurs who live what they preach. Knowledge is delivered using a "just-in-time" model, meaning mentors teach specific skills—such as budgeting, branding, pitch preparation, or customer negotiation—at the exact moment a teen encounters a real problem in their project. Whether a participant chooses to launch their own business on the Startup Track or join a group initiative like organizing a chess tournament on the Commercial Project Track, they gain practical, future-proof capabilities by taking real action.

Earn, Save, and Travel: Ownership of Financial Decisions

A core pillar of the Wayfinders experience is real financial empowerment and responsibility. Teens keep 100% of the income generated through their personal ventures or group projects while learning essential money management, pricing, and saving habits. Rather than relying on parent funding, participants pool their hard-earned money to plan and fund their own group adventure during March or summer break. From researching destinations and calculating budgets to voting democratically on where to go, teens discover that they can set an ambitious goal, create value, and make extraordinary experiences happen through their own hard work.

Building Community: Relationships, Social Outings, and Real-World Impact

Wayfinders is just as much about social connection and mental well-being as it is about business. Through weekly Thursday sessions, field trips, picnics, movie nights, and team-building activities, teens build lasting friendships with like-minded peers in a positive, screen-free environment. Every session culminates in real-world showcases, such as participating in the Children’s Business Fair at Fort York. By taking ownership of real projects and connecting deeply with mentors and friends, Wayfinders develop the emotional intelligence, resilience, and confidence needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Where are the workshops held?

Our workshops take place at fully vetted, accessible community venues in downtown Toronto, such as the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre (627 Queens Quay W).

Does my teen need prior business or leadership experience?
Not at all! Our mentors meet every participant where they are—whether they are naturally outspoken or quiet, complete beginners or already full of ideas.

Are spots limited?

Yes. To ensure high-quality mentorship and meaningful group dynamics, we cap registration for most workshops at 12–15 participants per cohort.
